The Sandwich Pause Trick
The good folks over at Web Worker Daily were kind enough to run an article I wrote for them entitled "Sandwich Pause Trick When Talking to Real People". Take a look, you'll find it is similar to the kinds of material that appears in this space.
It's based on a real incident I witnessed where an important executive dropped by for lunch with a room full of 30 people and used his sandwich to build in natural pauses in the conversation in an interesting way. I tried this myself at a recently and wasn't nearly as good at it, but it raises the issue of how important body language can be when delivering your message.
In the case of this executive, he used this trick to calm what could have been an awkward situation.
